to matter

it seems to sit

because that is
the where of differences
that must make
ever better bridges,
of always widening
and getting biggest yet,
gaps to make you gape,
intimidating, terrifying,
seductive, and taking
you to make
new miracles of meaning,
because now you must.

I know because
I had to bridge them
to stay alive at all,
or keep the sanity
relative to us all.
And now you must
believe
in the same miracle
made of you, to make
your own new
miracle meanings.
And you can
if you will it
with others willing
to will it with you.
Thoughtfully and lovingly,

as you make of yourself
something truly worth
believing in, and how
we all fit together
no matter
how far the connections
have to stretch,
get worn out, and
have to be loved
into a being again.

I Think We Need A Shero Now, Big Time

We'll have to make do with imagining a change in the lyrics here, to this wonderful song for now, because I do want to make a suggestion on having a competition for a new cover of it.

Don't get me wrong, though, because I do think this was a classic 80's pop song, that still serves to stir the soul quite well. It is just that a little change in emphasis here wouldn't hurt at all. Not at all.

But to this competition idea. What if someone, who knows people who knows people, would put the bug in, well. let's say Ellen DeGeneres' ear; a bug to make an inspirational, new video of it, only this time changing the lyrics to "Holding out for a shero," where needed, as well as changing all of the visual references (to that singer's version of heroic females -- and everybody will have their own favorites). And you'd make it be a competition where you would get, say, five or six of the top singers around today to make their versions; and of course, you don't limit it to just lady singers doing it, any more than you would limit it to just guys. And then you put them all on a charity album, with a special authorization code, entry token, to allow the purchaser to vote for their favorite (and perhaps donate a bit more). And then the proceeds could be used to help in follow on disaster relief efforts, in the hardest hit areas of the nation; especially where it has hurt the kids the hardest for being able to stay in school.

Put the song on. Imagine the change in the lyrics, as well as who you would have as sheroic figures, and see what you think. Then get that, "someone who knows someone," to get on the celebrity horn, and get Ellen to doing what she always does best; motivating celebrities. If they get the right mix of singers, styles, and cool imagery, it will be a real help, and a real pick-me-up, all rolled into one; what I like to call a "Two-Fer."

Employees Of Google. This Is Doing Evil.

Allowing management to shut down Google+ is exactly that. It is the beginning of senior management accepting the Chinese model of "harmonious" civil behavior. One that does not allow for what "leadership" decides is "disruptive."

And why can I say that? I can because Google+, despite whatever faults it had, especially in how it was managed, and hardly promoted at all, as well as in about as inept a fashion as one could ever imagine. was still an oasis of a public commons; a commons used for some of the richest, most textured, content on the Web. Content that was done, most of the time, with some taste, civility, and from a diversity of informed providers. Something I partook of a lot, back in more simple times, when we weren't pegging the crazy meter so much.

And in case you hadn't noticed, we've got a lot on the line now, as individuals. As a Nation. As members of a larger community of nations. And, perhaps most importantly of all, as sentient members, of a miracle of evolved complexity called life. Living, self sustaining sets of proof that process itself can be divine. And now we need a public commons like Google+ like never before.

And yes, keeping something like that going is going to be a bit messy. Certainly a bit technically challenging, but that is exactly what we face here as a problem, only now for the whole enchilada of whether any of this divine process will be allow to continue, or not, as well. And I would think, with a company that has the kind of creativity that is exactly exemplified by what Google+ displayed; I would think that company could make it work properly, whatever the challenges were. Just as those same employees would meet their own civil responsibilities, in what's going to be required to take on the higher challenges coming, now that we must work together somehow to save this planet.

...Well, maybe not quite for that. A philosopher wanna be can hope, though, can't he?

Not so far fetched either, considering how my new philosophy, and what these two guys have been concerned about for some time now, have so much in common. Not only in wanting to forge a new sense of where faith, spirit, and reason, can live together, but in finding a new way live with, and love, this remarkable planet we live on. And in my case, my alternative plan can give them what they really want concerning Capitalism. Not only a better way to explain why we need to get rid of it (which balances the faith, and reason parts of things), but a better way to actually accomplish that task.

I can only hope concerned Catholics here can let them know they might want to consider getting me on their "Contacts List."

And let's be clear here. Things are getting crazier by the moment. I can also only hope that everybody shares my sense of time sensitivity as well.
